Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the best known of the alternative therapies. It is one of the oldest and most commonly used medical procedures in the world. Acupuncture is a system of healing originating in China, which can have a powerful and long lasting effect on an individual's health and well being. It can be used for a wide range of health issues including acute symptom relief as well as providing a useful support in the management of chronic problems.

How does Acupuncture work?

According to theory the body is covered by a network of twelve meridians, rather like the network of nerves or blood vessels in the body. The meridians connect to, and work with, twelve of the organs in the body (heart, spleen, large intestine etc.). Each acupoint is a specific area along the meridian where the energy gathers and has a particular function in the body on a physical, mental and emotional level.


What does it feel like to receive acupuncture?

Most people find that having an acupuncture treatment is a relaxing and pleasant experience and they generally feel calmer, noticing improvements to their health and energy in the days following a treatment.
The phenomenon of a needling sensation - soreness, numbness, distension, and heaviness , it is known as propagation of needling sensation along meridians which circulate qi and blood inside and outside of the vessels.


How often and how many sessions will I need?

For better result, the patient needs treatment every second day , or at least twice a week in the beginning. When conditions improved, stabilized, can change it to once a week.
Acupuncture generally involves several weekly treatments for chronic conditions. Most courses consist of up to 12 sessions. Most sessions last about 50 minutes. Each visit will involve an exam and an assessment of the patient's condition, the insertion of needles, and advice on self-care.
